À La Reine Mathilde
We simply can’t talk about sweet spots in Bayeux without mentioning La Reine Mathilde — a true local institution! Whether you're from Bayeux or just passing through, this pâtisserie and tea room has been a must-visit for years.
Set in a stunning setting — soaring ceilings, ornate moldings, golden details, and vintage chandeliers — it’s a feast for the eyes as much as for the palate. As for the treats, it’s a real celebration: macarons, nougat, chocolates, and exquisite house-made pastries, not to mention local specialties like La Pomme d’Or and Le Pavé Bayeusain.
We’ve tried them all (for research, of course)… and honestly, we still can’t decide on a favorite! Resisting? Nearly impossible. The best advice? Give in — and savor every bite!
La Boulangerie des Ducs
We couldn’t leave this one out — for the past 8 years, this passionate artisan, backed by 40 years of experience, has been delighting sweet-toothed locals with his pastries, entremets, and signature creations.
Everything is made with fresh, local, and partly organic ingredients. And since we’ve tried it all (of course), we can confidently say: it’s all delicious… so much so, we still don’t know what to recommend first. Your call — or just do what we did, and try everything!"
La Pâtisserie de Guillaume
Step inside and you’ll find what can only be described as edible works of art — the kind that awaken your senses before you even take a bite. The air is filled with the scent of fresh pastries, the flavors are delicate and refined, and the whole place exudes cozy, feel-good indulgence.
Grab a seat in their charming tea room or enjoy your treats on the terrace — or take them to go, if you can actually make a decision (good luck with that). And with the menu changing each season, you’ll just have to return to Normandy a few times to taste everything. But hey… as far as excuses go, that’s a pretty sweet one.
